Art of Dining 2012
Art of Dining 2012 was on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Montage Laguna Beach!

2012 represents the 25th year of OCMA’s largest annual benefit event, Art of Dining, and the museum’s 50th Anniversary as the oldest and boldest modern and contemporary art organization in Southern California. We celebrated these incredible milestones along with this year's honoree, legendary Ferus Gallery director Irving Blum.

Art of Dining Patron Party 2012
The Patron Party is an annual event to honor the top supporters of Art of Dining, the Orange County Museum of Art’s gala fundraiser celebrating art and creativity. This year the event was generously hosted by Laurén and Trace Chalmers and held in their lovely Shady Canyon home.

The evening was sponsored by Matt Construction, which also provided guests with logo-detailed gift bags for of Caymus Special Reserve wine. There was informal modeling throughout the evening, showcasing fine jewelry from Cartier, Lead Sponsor of the 50th Anniversary, which provided a special edition stationary gift for guests. A menu of Halibut en Papillote, Ratatoulle Stuffed Petite Airline Breast, and Vol Au Vent of Beef Wellington was prepared by 24 carrots – catering and events. The artful flowers were arranged by Larissa of Inviting Occasions.

Art Auction: 50 Years / 50 Artists
Saturday, February 11, 2012

Collectors, philanthropists, and arts supporters also have the opportunity to preview the works and bid at the Auction Web site.

The Orange County Museum of Art has updated the list of renowned artists whose works will be available at the upcoming Art Auction 2012: 50 Years / 50 Artists. Approximately 50 museum-quality works of art, selected by OCMA Director Dennis Szakacs and Adjunct Curator Karen Moss will be auctioned at the museum on February 11, 2012. The event begins with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 6 pm, followed by a dinner and fast-paced live auction with International Auctioneer Andrea Fiuczynski, President of Christie’s Los Angeles.

The artworks are by 50 world-renowned artists who are central to OCMA’s history and include:

The list of artists invited to participate, many of which are highlighted above, are either represented in the museum’s permanent collection or have been included in solo or group exhibitions at OCMA. Museum staff is proud to name these outstanding artists as part of the institution’s history and enormously grateful for their stalwart support of the exhibition and education programs at the museum.

OCMA’s art auctions are a premiere event in Orange County and this year will include a sit-down dinner prepared by 24 Carrots Catering & Events, one of Orange County’s most sought out caterers. 24 Carrots will present an artful culinary display at the Auction, with delicious, innovative food pairings.

Art Auction 2010
On Saturday, January 30, 2010, OCMA hosted Art Auction 2010, an upbeat evening including cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, with a live auction of major museum-quality works of contemporary art conducted by guest auctioneer Andrea Fiuczynski, President of Christie's Los Angeles. The event began with a cocktail reception at 7:30 pm followed by a fast-paced live auction at 8:30 pm. Proceeds from the evening benefit the museum's exhibition and education programs.

The 2010 auction included works by: Kim Abeles, Peter Alexander, Kevin Appel, Siah Armajani, Chuck Arnoldi, Mary Corse, Dorit Cypis, Bart Exposito, Francesca Gabbiani, Jimi Gleason, Doug Hall, Ellsworth Kelly, Martin Kersels, Paul McCarthy, Kelly Nipper, David Reed, Janet Rosener, Sterling Ruby, Alison Schulnik, Peter Wegner, and Patrick Wilson, among others.

The event also included a live performance by The Mattson 2, the internationally praised duo of twin brothers Jared Mattson on guitar and loops and Jonathan Mattson on drums. The Mattson 2 has played in cities throughout the world, including Sao Paulo, Brazil; Copenhagen, Denmark; Hryvalla, Finland; and Tokyo, Japan; as well as nationally in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, among others.

Additionally, the event was underwritten by 24 Carrots Catering & Events, one of Orange County’s most sought out caterers. Media sponsorship was provided by Riviera Magazine.
