Art of Dining 2016

Presented by LOUIS VUITTON

OCMA supporters had a rousing time at the Art of Dining 2016 on May 21st. Presented by Louis Vuitton, the affair raised $535,000; benefiting the museum's exhibition and education programs. This year's Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to acclaimed New York artist Marilyn Minter, whose artwork is currently on view at the museum. Ms. Minter was introduced by the renowned LA-based artist, Catherine Opie.

"It was with great excitement that we presented this event at our future site for our extraordinary members, donors, and supporters," OCMA Director and CEO Todd D. Smith stated. "The evening paid tribute to artist Marilyn Minter whose artwork challenges us to consider what constitutes beauty in our society."Three hundred guests attended the gala in a space decorated with glitz and glam, perfectly complementing Minter's artwork.

The evening kicked off with a reception offering Spanish fare from the restaurant VACA. The Kitchen for Exploring Food later wowed gala guests with creative fare that was both perfectly prepared and artistically presented. Each of the four-courses was expertly paired with selected wines. Between courses, the museum presented a live auction with five exciting experiences. The auctioneer was greeted with an enthusiastic crowd that ended up exceeding the museum's highest expectations.

Following the live auction, the ten-member band Ground Control took the stage and performed hits from the 1970s to today. The tables quickly emptied, the dance floor overflowed, and the dancing continued beyond the appointed 11 pm end time.

We thank all who came out to celebrate the arts and support the museum.
