OCMA Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Fifty years ago, in October 1962, thirteen adventurist ladies opened the doors to an exciting new institution, the Pavilion Gallery. Later renamed the Newport Harbor Art Museum and subsequently, the Orange County Museum of Art, the museum was the first devoted to both modern and contemporary art in Southern California and today is one of the most ambitious, innovative, mid-size museums in the United States.

The museum has organized an exceptional 50th Anniversary year of exhibitions and special events to commemorate the museum's central role in the Southern California art world.
