Pop-Up Installation at CANVAS Costa Mesa

Spanned across Randolph Avenue and Bristol Street, the inaugural CANVAS Costa Mesa event will include a lively evening of exhibitions, live painting, arts related activities, shopping, eating and drinking.

OCMA will occupy The CRASHLABS coworking environment (2967 Randolph Ave., suite A)—a community, meet up and event center that brings creative professionals together in a collaborative space—for a one-night-only satellite installation inspired by its current exhibition, The Avant-Garde Collection. Two projections and one monitor will be devoted to three works of video art from OCMA’s permanent collection: Christian Marclay’s Telephones (1995), Jeremy Blake’s Winchester Redux (2004), and Mungo Thomson’s The American Desert (2002).

Guests are invited to escape the outdoor festivities and immerse themselves in the alternately funny and hypnotic video environment that OCMA’s Chief Curator Dan Cameron has arranged for them. OCMA will also have a selection of museum catalogues available for sale at one-night-only discounts.

7 - 9PM | Also at The CRASHLABS, As Issued Art + Design Bookstore and Laguna College of Art and Design (LCAD) host a book signing with renowned local artist, F. Scott Hess. Hess will be signing his recently published retrospective book which includes over 180 full-color pages of Hess' art spanning four decades. The book is beautifully hardbound housed in a slipcase published by Grand Central Press and Gingko Press, with essays by Mike McGee, Doug Harvey, Leah Ollman, and John Seed.

Coffee service will be provided by Equator Coffee.
