Collection in Context: John Baldessari

Exhibition Through February 23, 2003

This series of exhibitions emphasizes original research on the museum’s collections and provides visitors engaging ways to access art through innovative educational and interpretive approaches. An informal study area in the gallery is furnished with comfortable seating and a table of educational material. Through the end of February the featured collection artist will be John Baldessari, one of the most influential artists to have emerged since the 1960’s. A new interview with the artist on CD and a family guide accompany this Collection in Context exhibition. Beginning March 1, the work of German-born artist William Wendt will be featured. A leader in the Los Angeles and Laguna Beach art communities during the early twentieth century, Wendt was one of the most important California Impressionists.
