Fabrice Gygi

Exhibition Through March 12, 2006

Fabrice Gygi created site-specific installations with large-scale sculptures and public-service structures that referenced the often-unnoticed architecture and apparatuses of authority: bleachers, crowd control barriers, and podiums. Skillfully appropriating the materials and instruments of order, Gygi’s works present a multi-layered critique of the authoritarian structures in our culture.

Gygi’s Orange County Museum of Art exhibition will feature a number of newly commissioned works in response to the Museum’s public spaces. This will be Gygi’s first major museum exhibition in the U.S. Fabrice Gygi was born in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1965 and lives in Zurich and Geneva.

Orange County Museum of Art’s Installation Series engages some of the most vital and promising artists working locally, nationally, and internationally to create new works.
